The instructions from the client were the functional reorganisation of the apartment, including the creation of a new path of access from the vestibule together with the creation of one large room out of two smaller ones. Here the vestibule is presented as representative of the whole conversion.
The line of columns, the 'chessboard' floor and a cupboard element were superimposed on the existing ground plan configuration, thus creating new spatial accents which redefine the paths through the apartment in accordance with the new layout. The line of red columns screens access to the private rooms on the one hand while at the same time forming a diagonal which leads to the doors into the living areas and study.
